Ulysses Press began as a travel publisher; its first breakout hit was Hidden Hawaii, a guide that set the tone for nimble, reader-first books. VeloPress was created as the book division of Inside Communications, Inc.—the original publisher of VeloNews and Inside Triathlon. That heritage gave VeloPress a built-in community of dedicated athletes, and the launch of Coach Joe Friel’s Training Bible series—starting with The Cyclist’s Training Bible (1995)—cemented its reputation as a trusted authority in endurance training. Trafalgar Square Books brings deep expertise in equestrian publishing from its Vermont roots, while She Writes Press champions women authors through a celebrated, author-forward model. Together, these origins shape The Stable’s independent spirit.

In early 2025, we brought these imprints under one collaborative roof as The Stable Book Group, sharing editorial, marketing, production, and operational resources while keeping each press’s identity intact. The collective was formally announced in February 2025 and includes Ulysses Press, VeloPress, Trafalgar Square Books, and She Writes Press, with additional partners joining the ecosystem. Trafalgar Square Books became part of The Stable effective January 1, 2025—an early milestone that signaled our vision for a modern, flexible publishing group built on independence, partnership, and scale

In June 2025, we partnered with Hachette Book Group to create Stable Distribution, a next-generation sales and distribution service for independent publishers seeking North American reach. Hachette provides world-class warehousing, logistics, and fulfillment, while The Stable leads sales and publisher operations—delivering a powerful path to readers across the U.S. and Canada. The venture was announced in June, 2025, with operations starting in January 2026, bringing new capacity and optionality to indie presses worldwide
