Jerry Schmitz

Jerry Schmitz is the author of numerous “art-of ” books that chronicle the making of such films as The Wild Robot, The Peanuts Movie, Surf’s Up, Trolls, and Shrek Forever After. Most recently, he wrote the art book for the live-action adaptation of How to Train Your Dragon. Schmitz began his career in film in 1993 at Steven Spielberg’s production company Amblin Entertainment and has been a part of the DreamWorks family since its inception in 1994. He is a graduate of the University of Dayton (MA, BA) and a member of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts & Sciences (AMPAS) and the Academy of Television Arts & Sciences (ATAS).Writers and directors Joel Crawford and Januel Mercado, and producer Mark Swift, are the filmmaking team behind the critically acclaimed Academy Award–nominated film Puss in Boots: The Last Wish, following their first collaboration on the feature film The Croods: A New Age. Crawford and Mercado began their careers with DreamWorks Animation as story artists on Kung Fu Panda 2.
