Every river has a story to tell.

Where does a river begin? Where does it go? And what can a river be?

High in the mountains, where earth meets sky, a tiny trickle begins its journey. It winds through valleys, rushes over rocks, carves canyons, and carries the colors of the land. Sometimes a river is gentle and quiet; sometimes it roars with wild, unstoppable power. Along the way, it shapes the world around it, creating habitats, carving landscapes, and connecting places near and far.

From the mighty Amazon to the winding Nile, discover the many faces of rivers around the world in this lyrical celebration of water and the natural world. With evocative language, vivid imagery, and a glossary of river words to know, Rivers invites readers to follow the flow, explore the wonders of our planet, and see rivers in a whole new way.

Every river has a story. Follow it from its first trickle to the sea.
