George Washington Carver was born into slavery and is most well known for his work with peanuts, inventing more than 300 products for both commercial and industrial uses. He was also a professor at the Tuskegee Institute, a proponent of crop rotation, an advocate and teacher of poor farmers, and a fighter for racial equality.
