Steven Varni has been lucky enough to spend his adult life working in the vast garden of books: as a writer, independent bookseller, editor, and publicist. He knows first-hand how frustrating real-life weeds are, but also the pleasant surprises they can lead to—since an especially stubborn thicket of Japanese knotweed inspired this book. After living for 11 years in Italy, he now lives with his family north of NYCSidney Meireles' interest in art began early. Originally self-taught, he now teaches others in drawing, illustration, and watercolor, and has been illustrating books for more than 20 years. He lives and works in Brazil, dividing his studio time between his own art and that of his students.
